Orthognathic surgery is considered a highly feasible and supportive procedure in the solution of cases involving dentofacial deformities in adults. This is due to the promising advances in this area, which made it possible both to simplify surgical techniques with less post-surgery discomfort, and more standardized orthodontic-surgical planning and, consequently, more accurately.
The use of modern facial analysis software associated with computed tomography enables orthodontic and surgical planning in a synchronized manner leading to predictable results. The use of the software makes the surgical simulation possible. However, the surgeon’s experience is still sovereign over surgical decisions.
