Robotic Dentistry goes beyond the limits of technology.

IMPLAR and Dentsply Sirona present the dentistry of the future.

Dentistry is increasingly ahead and currently stands side by side with robotics, aiming for better treatment, time optimization, cost benefit, and most importantly: to generate comfort and tranquility to patients and to improve the work of professionals.

In the city of Poços de Caldas, it is possible to see this closely at IMPLAR Dental Hospital, the first dental hospital in the State of Minas Gerais. Its director, Prof. Dr. Sergio Dias, created a room with state-of-the-art equipment developed by Dentsply Sirona – the world’s largest company in dental solutions and technologies.

According to Profº Dr. Sergio, “the union of the machines with the human talent associated to the care and hospitality, turned the dental treatment into an excellent experience. Robotic digital dentistry gives people who have limited time, the opportunity to do treatments that would take months, in a single day. “

When entering the room, it is impossible not to remit the feeling of living in the 80’s animation, “The Jetsons.” After consultation with the professionals, the patient receives a card which gives him and his companion access to the room. Passing the card at the entrance, a robotic voice welcomes his name. When you sit in the SINIUS digital chair, you can see your answer card on a mirrored screen, which shows all your data, the type of treatment required and the step-by-step of what should be done.

The accompanying person, in turn, after this presentation, can expect to see a good movie, in the same environment, with a low light, cinema style. Meanwhile, the dentist, activates the equipment by voice command and has the artificial intelligence of the room to provide support throughout the treatment. At the moment of the digital impression, the CEREC OMNICAN scanner (https://cereccepts.ca/), which will capture the images of the patient’s oral cavity, approaches the client through a voice command so that it can be used by the professional. After the scanning and digital drawing ends, it returns to the starting position.

Next, the dimensions of the teeth that need to be made are sent to the milling machine MC XL, which quickly transforms a small block into a perfect tooth. It is then sent to the SpeedFire oven. Finally, the professional makes the installation of the tooth on the patient. And the whole process, which would take months to complete, is only done two hours.

“This kind of practice is a novelty in the world, nobody has ever seen anything like it. People need to live this experience to realize that it is possible to have a fast treatment, high quality and with an excellent cost benefit for all. And the professional must also experience this to note that dentistry is crossing the frontiers of cutting-edge technology and that the patients need and demand the best in the market. This room elaborated by IMPLAR came to present to the dental sector, the future,” says Rodrigo Canelhas, Vice President of Latin America at Dentsply Sirona.

The Room inaugurated on August 24, 2018 aims to meet thousands of people living in Brazil and coming from other countries, in order to seek treatment that deserve more attention from professionals and at a very affordable cost. It also aims to demystify that feeling of fear that people from a dentist. The greater the technological advances, the broader the feeling of comfort and well-being.
